Your Mold F185 cage feeder mold (140 g)
Code: YM/0185Related products
Product detailed description
The Your Mold F185 aluminum mold produces lead weights for sheet-metal cage feeders. It has 1 cavity for nominal weights of 140 g. The single cavity produces one lead part at the listed nominal weight.
For other weights, compare F186 (120 g) and F140 (90 g). Check the construction and required inserts as well as the weight before changing molds.
The lead weight is not the weight of a filled feeder. Include the basket, groundbait and other parts when assessing the casting load. Current, bottom slope, basket resistance and line tension affect how it holds; weight alone does not guarantee a fixed position or a particular casting distance.
Shape Your Mold 9007 perforated sheet into a cage and seat its attachment section in the mold with a size 1 brass loop. Before casting, check the sheet position, loop seating and full closure. The VMC size 8 swivel listed in the accessories provides the rig connection; keep the eye and moving part clear.
The offer is for the aluminum mold. Sheet, brass loops, swivels and other casting accessories are sold separately. The finished feeder shown illustrates its use.
Weight and insert overview
| Nominal lead weight | Cavities | Insert during casting | Finishing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 140 g | 1 | Sheet-metal cage and size 1 brass loop | Deburr the cage joint; fit the attachment |
From the mold to a finished feeder
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, cage, loop and tools.
- Cut and shape the sheet for the required cage. Remove sharp edges.
- Seat the cage attachment and size 1 brass loop in their recesses. Check full closure without force.
- Cast according to the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment.
- Once solidified and safe to handle, remove the casting. Trim the sprue and deburr the lead-to-sheet joint.
- Check the cage and attachment strength. Weigh the assembled feeder and allow for groundbait before casting with a rod.
Nominal weights refer to one casting, not the total output of the mold. The metal used and finishing affect actual weight, so weigh the first casting from each cavity you use. Check the function of all rig components and keep within the capacity of your rod and complete tackle.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves. Use a stable, heat-resistant work area with effective ventilation.
- Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. The mold temperature limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with lead. Keep casting equipment separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Which weights does the mold produce?
1 cavity for 140 g. This is the nominal lead-part weight; metal and finishing affect actual weight.
What is included?
The offer is for the aluminum mold. Sheet, brass loops, swivels and other casting accessories are sold separately. The finished feeder shown illustrates its use.
Is a sheet-metal cage included?
No. Buy the sheet separately, then cut and shape it for the selected mold. Seat its attachment section in the recess before pouring.
Does lead weight alone determine the right rod?
No. Assess the combined weight of basket, lead, groundbait and rig against the rod’s casting range.
When should I choose another mold?
For other weights, compare F186 (120 g) and F140 (90 g). Check the construction and required inserts as well as the weight before changing molds.
