The Your Mold F11 lead casting mold offers six round jig heads weighing 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 and 19 g. Its practical role is to combine relatively light heads with VMC 5150 5/0 or 6/0 hooks. This suits rigs that need room for a soft-bait body without automatically adding a heavy head. When fishing for zander or pike, you can change the fall and lure contact while retaining the same basic head shape. Six cavities give you six available weights; fill only the ones you actually need.

The round profile concentrates weight ahead of the lure and provides a straightforward starting point for conventional jigging. A lift leads the soft bait upwards by its head; during the pause, the weight draws it into the fall. A paddle-tail shad adds tail movement, a curly-tail grub works its curled tail, and a soft jerkbait responds more to retrieve speed and rod-tip movement. A round head does not necessarily remain upright on the bottom or prevent snags. Over rocks, avoid unnecessarily long pauses and watch whether you are still working the lure or letting it settle between obstacles.

The 6–12 g options are useful where lighter weight still lets you track the lure and gives it time to sink. Move up to 15 or 19 g for a longer cast, greater lure drag or a stronger current. Each weight does not correspond to one fixed depth: line diameter, wind and retrieve angle also affect the presentation. If fish take the lure in midwater, a heavier head may shorten its time within reach. When fishing near the bottom, a head that is too light can make it harder to recognise contact and time the next lift.

The specified hooks are VMC 5150 in 5/0 and 6/0. These sizes do not establish compatibility with every hook carrying the same size number; eye shape and shank bend also matter. Before casting, hold the hook against the chosen soft bait. The point should emerge ahead of the moving section, with enough clearance above the body for a hookset, and the lure must not twist on the shank. If this rigging is too large for a smaller body, choose another mold. Reducing head weight alone does not reduce the space or dimensions of the hook.

For retaining the soft bait, the manufacturer specifies 0.5 or 0.6 mm wire, shaped into a keeper to suit the groove. Select a preformed keeper only after checking its dimensions; a length of 19 mm alone does not confirm compatibility with F11. Compare lures such as ZOOM G-TAIL, Magnum II or SAF PLASTI-X according to their actual body cross-section and the point’s exit position. Finish the casting with a suitable coating for lead, keeping the hook eye and point clear. If using adhesive, choose one suitable for the soft-bait material and test one finished rig first.

Casting weights and hook options

Manufacturer-specified bismuth weights in the same cavities: 6 g of lead → 5.1 g of bismuth; 8 g → 6.9 g; 10 g → 8.6 g; 12 g → 10.3 g; 15 g → 12.9 g; 19 g → 16.3 g. Changing the casting metal changes the weight. The listed hooks are specified for the F11 model. Before casting, seat the chosen size in the intended cavity and check full closure. Use 0.5 or 0.6 mm wire for the keeper. Weigh the first casting from each cavity you use.

Hooks, wire, soft baits and coatings are not automatically included with the mold. Before making a batch, prepare one rig in a chosen weight and test its action in water. You do not have to make equal numbers of all six weights. Apply a thin coating according to its instructions so it does not block the eye or the keeper’s detail. When using bismuth, adapt sprue trimming to the properties of the particular alloy.

Does F11 make round or football heads?

F11 casts round jig heads. For a wider football profile, compare F04 and F201. Their head geometry and rigging differ, so choose the complete setup rather than comparing weight alone.

When is a light head with a 5/0 or 6/0 hook useful?

When you want to fish a larger soft bait with a slower fall or through midwater while retaining control. Choose hook size for the lure body and head weight for the presentation and conditions.

Can I cast bismuth in F11?

Yes. The manufacturer also specifies bismuth weights, listed in the note below the table. They are lower than the lead weights from the same cavities. Use the process appropriate for the metal and weigh the first casting.

Can I use a preformed 19 mm bait keeper?

Its suitability for F11 is not confirmed here. The manufacturer specifies 0.5 or 0.6 mm wire. The keeper’s complete shape and fit in the groove matter; do not force the mold shut around an unsuitable component.

What should I choose if I need more than 19 g?

Compare heavier round jig molds, such as F221, and check the compatible hook series and size at the same time. A heavier casting from another mold does not necessarily have the same rigging or fit the same soft bait.
