The Your Mold F135 lead casting mold produces Ned Rig jig heads for finesse freshwater fishing. Its six cavities provide approximate weights of 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 8 and 9 g. The short head with a flat front suits slow presentations of soft plastic worms, soft jerkbaits and nymphs close to the bottom, especially when fishing for perch and zander. One mold lets you prepare several weights and adjust the lure's fall to the conditions.

For a Ned Rig presentation, use short movements, gentle shakes and pauses. The flat front of the head provides support on the bottom, but the position of the whole lure also depends on the soft bait's shape and buoyancy, line tension and the bottom itself. A buoyant body can lift its tail during a pause, while a standard sinking soft bait behaves differently. For a more active retrieve, you can also use a smaller paddle tail from the SAF PLASTI-X BRAVO 10 cm range. Its tail works as the lure moves. The manufacturer notes a looser hook fit in the lead on the 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 g heads, because only a small amount of metal surrounds part of the hook. Make test castings before a larger batch and check both the hook anchoring and the actual weight. If you need a head for more forceful retrieves or heavier fishing, assess the hook's anchoring in each casting. Glue used to hold the soft bait in place does not strengthen the connection between the hook and the lead.

Finish the head with a suitable coating for lead, following the chosen system's instructions. Keep the hook eye and point clear. A small amount of glue can help prevent the soft bait from sliding down, provided it is compatible with the bait material and applied only after the head has cooled. Why can the hook be looser in the lightest heads?

Only a small amount of lead surrounds the hook in the three smallest castings. The manufacturer highlights this characteristic, so check every casting. If the hook moves noticeably or rotates during inspection, do not use the finished head.

Will every soft bait stand tail-up on this head?

No. Along with the head's supporting surface, the bait's buoyancy and shape, the bottom and line tension all matter. For this presentation, choose a buoyant body and test the complete rig in the water. A sinking paddle tail will behave differently.

Do I need a BH19 wire bait keeper for F135?
