The Your Mold F107 lead casting mold produces narrow torpedo jig heads in 100, 120 and 140 g. It suits anglers making their own heads for saltwater lure fishing in Norway, where current, drift and the resistance of a long soft bait call for more weight. Typical targets include cod, coalfish and pollack.

The elongated head continues the slim outline of the soft bait. Its narrow front profile presents less frontal area when pulled forwards than a broad head of comparable weight. The behaviour of the complete lure also depends on the bait itself, hook position and line angle. A torpedo shape alone does not guarantee a perfectly straight fall or prevent the lure from spinning.

Choose between the three weights according to contact with the lure and the required sink rate. Start with 100 g if it lets you control the presentation, then move to 120 or 140 g as current or drift increases. When fish are feeding above the bottom, a lighter head can help keep the bait in their feeding layer. There is no fixed depth for each weight: bait resistance and braid diameter also matter.

When should I choose F107 instead of F220?

No. Head weight controls the presentation in the conditions, while hook size must suit the dimensions of the soft bait. A long lure may need a large hook and still work best with a lighter head.

Do I need to glue ZOOM or X-RAY to the head?

First check that the lure is rigged straight and the keeper works correctly. If the bait slips, a small amount of glue suitable for both its material and the head coating can help. Glue for joining plastisol does not necessarily bond to metal.

Can F107 also be used for halibut?

It can be used for halibut as part of a suitable rig. Casting weight does not determine the strength of the hook or complete setup; for targeting large fish, select an appropriate hook, leader and the rest of the tackle.
