The Your Mold F67 Spear Head lead casting mold extends the torpedo concept to 160, 180 and 200 g. It is intended for making heavier narrow-profile heads when you need to control a soft bait in stronger current, during a faster drift or deeper beneath the boat. Its main role is saltwater fishing in Norway, particularly for cod, coalfish and pollack.

The name Spear Head refers to the pointed front. This is the heavier branch of the torpedo family, with an elongated head that meets a slim soft bait body. It provides more weight without requiring a broad round head. The front remains narrow when pulled forwards, while the soft bait, length of line in the water and braid diameter still affect the resistance of the complete rig.

The 160–200 g range is mainly about lure control. Start with 160 g if it maintains the required path. Move to 180 or 200 g when the current carries away a lighter rig or you lose contact with the lure. More weight increases the sink rate and changes the presentation; in calmer water or when fish are high in the water column, a lighter mold may be more suitable.

From the ZOOM soft bait range, consider the longer Ol’ Monster and Magnum Ol’ Monster, or Magnum II if the rigging dimensions suit it. Their tails add movement during the retrieve, while SAF PLASTI-X X-RAY 20 cm without an active paddle tail responds more to rod movement and changes of pace. Choose the head for the conditions and the hook for the lure; a heavy casting does not automatically call for the largest available hook.

The documented hook options are VMC 5150 in 8/0 or 12/0. Do not interpret these two sizes as a continuous range including 10/0. The hook must seat in the groove and the mold must close fully. Stainless wire of 0.5–0.6 mm is specified for making the keeper. Before producing a batch, check the first complete rig for a straight body, a clear hook gape and free movement in the rear of the lure.

When casting the lure, assess the combined weight of the head and soft bait against the rod rating; the number stamped on the lead is only part of the load. Frequently asked questions about F67

When should I choose F67 instead of F107?

When even the 140 g head from F107 is insufficient to hold the lure on the required path. F67 continues from 160 to 200 g with the same basic narrow torpedo-head approach.

Is F67 only for vertical fishing?

No. It can also be used for heavier casting presentations. The cast must suit the rod and the total lure weight. A heavy head plus a soft bait can easily exceed the rod’s casting rating.

Does a 200 g head automatically make a halibut rig?

No. Head weight determines the load, not the hook strength. For halibut, assess the actual hook, leader and complete rig; weight alone does not confirm suitability for trophy fish.

Is F155 the same mold with different weights?

No. F155 has an eel-style profile with two weights, 150 and 180 g. F67 has the torpedo Spear Head profile with three weights, 160, 180 and 200 g. They differ in both shape and weight selection.

Can I fill the entire mold with one ladle?

The three castings total a nominal 540 g of lead, plus the pouring sprues. Allow for the usable capacity of the ladle. You can fill the cavities individually; there is no need to cast all three in one pour.
