The Your Mold F220 lead casting mold covers the middle of the torpedo range with 60, 70 and 80 g heads. It is a practical choice for saltwater lure fishing in Norway when a light head is being carried away by the drift, but heavier tackle would make the presentation drop too quickly. Use it to prepare heads for pollack, coalfish and cod, matched to the actual current and lure.

The 10 g steps let you adjust the sink rate without making a large jump in weight. Use 60 g where it gives enough contact, 70 g for a small increase and 80 g when the drift or bait resistance calls for more. These weights describe the load, not a fixed fishing depth. The same head can behave very differently with a thin worm and a bulky shad.

The elongated torpedo shape meets the front of a slim soft bait without an oversized transition. A wire keeper can secure the lure without the bulk of a thick cast lead collar. The narrow front profile is useful when the lure is pulled forwards, while its fall still depends on line angle, straight rigging and the resistance of the soft bait.

For the soft bait, start with ZOOM Magnum II and Ol’ Monster if the front of the body and intended hook exit point suit a 6/0 hook. Their tails work during the retrieve. SAF PLASTI-X X-RAY 20 cm is an alternative for a less regular soft-jerkbait action created with the rod and changes of speed. With X-RAY, pay particular attention to hook clearance above the thicker front section.

The specified hook is VMC 5150 in size 6/0. The same size number in another hook series does not guarantee identical dimensions or a correct fit. Check the position of the shank, eye and wire keeper before closing the mold. Stainless wire of 0.5–0.6 mm is specified for making the keeper. Rig the soft bait straight; if it twists alongside the boat, adjust it before fishing again.

The finished head can combine a powder or rubber coating with 6 mm stick-on eyes. Choose a subdued shade for a natural presentation or a contrasting colour for a more prominent head. Frequently asked questions about F220

Why choose three weights within such a narrow range?

The 10 g steps let you respond to current, drift and soft bait resistance. You can adjust sinking speed and contact with the lure without a large change in the overall load.

Is the 80 g head intended for a specific depth?

There is no fixed depth limit. An 80 g head behaves differently in calm water and during a fast drift; line diameter and lure size also matter. Judge the control you have over the complete rig.

When should I move up to F107?

If even 80 g will not hold the lure on the required path, F107 offers 100–140 g. For a slower fall or a lighter presentation, F223 covers 25–50 g.

Can I use a larger hook for a long ZOOM worm?

F220 is specified for VMC 5150 6/0. If its shank length or gape does not suit the actual soft bait, choose another head or mold with confirmed compatibility for a suitable larger hook.

Are the hooks and keepers included with the mold?

The mold and its components are selected separately. Related products include hooks, wire and eyes. The finished keeper must fit the groove; do not assume that the 19 mm keeper for F155 is also suitable here.
