Your Mold F187 aluminium mold for three round screw-in heads weighing 40, 50 and 60 g. For soft baits held by a spring with separate hook rigging. The listed version uses size 05 stainless loops and an S1 spring, both seated before pouring and retained in the head.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

The Your Mold F187 lead casting mold produces round screw-in heads weighing 40, 50 and 60 g. The listed version has three separate cavities in 10 g steps. Choose it for soft baits held by a screw-in spring with separate hook rigging. It follows the lighter F188 15–35 g range and offers more load for current, drift or bulkier lures when needed to control the presentation.

A screw-in head holds the lure with a spring. Screw the front of the soft bait onto it so that the head meets the lure straight and the body is not twisted. Prepare the hook arrangement for the lure’s length, intended presentation and fishing method, for example with a suitably assembled stinger. The spring holds the bait; it does not replace the intended loop for attaching the hook rig. Check alignment with a short pull through the water, as a bulky, crooked lure can make the whole assembly turn.

The listed F187 uses Your Mold size 05 stainless loops and an S1 spring. Both component types are accurately seated in their recesses before pouring and remain anchored in the casting. They are not removable casting strips or Cheburashka clips. Close the mold for a dry fitting check before filling it. Do not substitute size 01 or 1 for 05 simply because it is another loop from the same manufacturer.

Choose 40–60 g by the resistance of the entire setup. Depth, current, drift speed, lure bulk, line diameter and the angle of presentation all matter. A single weight does not correspond to a fixed depth or fish species. Start with a load that lets you hold the intended path and feel the lure, then increase gradually. Near the bottom, monitor fall time and contact; when fishing through the water column, focus on maintaining the selected layer.

The round shape helps you compare different weights with the same basic profile. F195 offers a 30–50 g screw-in fish-head profile, while F204 provides round 80–100 g heads. F179 at 30–50 g and F178 at 60–80 g are articulated Cheburashkas with removable clips. When comparing alternatives, consider both head shape and lure attachment. Equal weights across these systems do not imply the same loops, springs or clips.

Check loop anchoring, clear attachment points and spring alignment in the completed rig. Position the hook where it can release or set correctly without blocking the active tail. Head weight does not specify stinger strength or the strength of the complete setup. Select every component for the fishing method and recheck the connection after contact with an obstruction or any damage.

The table specifies the same components for all three cavities in the listed F187. Changing weight therefore does not require another loop size. The components still need to fit their individual recesses; visual similarity is not a substitute for checking correct seating and complete mold closure.

From F187 mold to a screw-in head

  1. Prepare a clean, completely dry F187 mold, size 05 loops and an S1 spring. Choose the cavity and inspect every component.
  2. Seat the loops and spring accurately in the mold recesses. Both halves must close fully without force. Follow the instructions when sealing unused openings with suitable material and secure the mold.
  3. Cast according to the mold, metal and melting equipment instructions. Use the working temperature and filling method specified for your process, keeping the components correctly seated.
  4. After solidification and safe cooling, remove the head and trim the sprue. The loops and spring remain in the casting; check their anchoring, alignment and clear loop openings.
  5. Weigh the first head, apply any surface finish and let it cool. Screw the soft bait straight onto the spring, attach the hook rig to the intended loop and check the complete assembly before making a larger batch.

Lead casting equipment and practical guidance

The stated weights are nominal lead casting weights. Metal composition, cavity filling and sprue trimming affect the result, so weigh the first pieces. Other low-melting metals may produce a different weight. Follow the coating instructions and keep loop openings and the spring’s working section clear. Prepare the correct loops, springs, suitable hooks and melting equipment for production. The table identifies the required components; wire diameter alone does not replace the shape of the specified part.

Casting safety

  • Never pour molten metal into a damp mold; the loops, springs and tools must also be completely dry.
  • Wear safety glasses and suitable gloves and use a stable, heat-resistant work area.
  • Provide effective ventilation and follow the instructions for the metal, auxiliary products and melting equipment you use.
  • Keep food, drinks and smoking away from the work area; keep lead-working equipment separate from household utensils and wash your hands afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

When should I choose F187 instead of F188?

When you mainly need 40, 50 and 60 g and the lighter 15–35 g range no longer provides the required contact. Base the choice on current, drift and total rig resistance, not lure size alone.

Does this F187 also have a 70 g cavity?

The SAF-listed version has three cavities: 40, 50 and 60 g. When comparing other versions, use the specific mold and its stated weights as your reference.

Is the spring fitted after casting?

No. S1 and size 05 loops are seated before pouring and remain anchored after solidification. Screw the soft bait onto the completed, cool head.

Is a screw-in head the same as a Cheburashka with another clip?

No. A Cheburashka uses a removable clip to connect the weight to the hook. A screw-in head holds the lure with a spring, with separate hook rigging attached through the intended loop.

How can I stop a large soft bait from turning?

Screw the front on straight and check the lure body’s alignment with the head. Test its action with a short pull in the water and correct rigging before changing weight or hooks.
