Your Mold F168 DS Finesse Drop-Shot Sinker Mold 12–28 g
Code: YM/0168Related products
Product detailed description
The Your Mold F168 DS Finesse aluminum mold produces long, slender drop-shot sinkers. Its 5 cavities give approximate lead weights of 12 / 15 / 20 / 24 / 28 g. The manufacturer specifies a sinker length of 80 mm. Different body thicknesses provide a choice of loads within the same elongated profile.
In a drop-shot rig, the weight sits below the baited hook. It maintains bottom contact while you work the lure above it. A slender stick profile interacts with uneven ground differently from a round or pear-shaped sinker, but it cannot guarantee snag-free fishing. Choose weight according to depth, current and the line control required.
For a conventional tied connection, the manufacturer allows a regular VMC size 12 swivel with a closed eye. Alternatively, choose a clip attachment: the 3024 size 12 Drop-Shot swivel or 3025 size 7. These hold the line in a clip. A closed eye and a line clip are different attachment methods; a size number alone is not enough to choose a replacement.
The swivel’s embedded section stays in the lead. Before casting, check insert alignment and full mold closure; after finishing, keep the rotating section and eye or clip functional. Test a clip swivel with the line diameter you intend to use. Do not assume a fixed release strength for the complete rig.
This offer is for the aluminum mold; swivels are selected separately. Compare shorter or differently shaped weights in our drop-shot sinker mold range. Similar jig and other lure molds offer different fishing methods, rather than interchangeable inserts for F168.

From the F168 mold to a finished casting
- Prepare a clean, completely dry mold, a specified swivel and casting tools. Choose the weight and line attachment method.
- Seat a regular size 12 swivel or a 3024/3025 Drop-Shot swivel in the recess. Check full closure without force.
- Secure the mold and cast according to the mold, metal and melting-equipment instructions.
- After solidification, remove the casting safely, let it cool and trim the sprue and sharp edges.
- Check secure anchorage and free swivel function. Weigh the first casting and test attachment to your actual hooklink line.
The weights are approximate values for individual lead castings. Alloy composition and final trimming may change the result. You may fill selected cavities without casting the complete set every time.
Leave the metal bare or finish it with a suitable coating according to its instructions. Keep the rotating section and clip or eye clear. Mold talc and modeling clay are workshop aids for the appropriate process, not substitutes for the specified swivel.
Casting safety
- Never pour molten metal into a damp mold. Lead, inserts and tools must also be completely dry.
- Wear safety glasses and suitable protective gloves; work on a stable, heat-resistant surface with effective ventilation.
- Follow the instructions for the mold, metal and melting equipment. The manufacturer’s approximate 500 °C mold limit is not a recommended pouring temperature.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke when working with lead. Keep casting tools separate from kitchen utensils and wash your hands afterwards.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What weights and length does F168 produce?
Five individual sinkers of approximately 12, 15, 20, 24 and 28 g. The stated 80 mm is the sinker length, not the overall mold size.
Which swivels are documented?
A regular VMC size 12 swivel, or Drop-Shot 3024 size 12 and 3025 size 7 clip swivels. Do not substitute other sizes without verification.
Do I always tie the line to the sinker?
A regular closed-eye swivel uses a knot or suitable connector. The Drop-Shot version has a line clip; test its function with your own hooklink.
Are swivels supplied with the mold?
They are ordered separately in this listing. The inserted parts in the photograph illustrate assembly.
Can I cast a single cavity?
Yes. Select the required weight without filling the remaining cavities.
