Liquid colours for plastisol in soft bait making
Liquid colours are the core additive for colouring plastisol when you make soft baits. They’re ideal for solid colours and laminates, especially when you want a clean contrast or smooth transitions without “dirtying” the shade. The main advantage is simple: easy dosing, quick feedback, and repeatable results across batches.
In practice it looks like this:
→ start with plastisol and pick the right softness for your bait style
→ heat gradually and evenly until the mix turns clear and fully liquid
→ add liquid colour only once plastisol is fully heated, then stir just enough to blend evenly
→ tune the look with glitter or powder pigments
→ tune material feel (softer / firmer action) via plasticizers
→ for quick finishing and surface effects, use SaBoFlex Quick Dip
How to choose a colour type (quick guide)
→ standard: everyday shades for most mixes
→ fluo: high visibility when you want stronger contrast
→ metallic / special: effect colours for extra flash and a more “alive” look
What you’ll typically solve in the workshop
→ colour clarity: add colours only to fully heated plastisol and stir calmly (avoid whipping air in)
→ batch consistency: keep the same volume and dosing method (count drops if needed)
→ laminates: keep both mixes in the same “working” state so layers behave predictably
→ safety and comfort: use borosilicate for heating/mixing and keep your workflow within soft bait making
