SaBoFlex Transparent Purple is a concentrated pigment paste for colouring plastisol when making soft-plastic fishing lures. It belongs to the transparent range and is intended to give the entire casting or selected layers a translucent colour. This is a colour concentrate designed to be mixed into plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, airbrush paint or a surface coating.

The name Transparent Purple denotes the transparent purple colour range, not a precisely measured colour standard. In the current product photographs, the concentrated paste looks very dark, with a purple to burgundy-purple cast. In cooled plastisol, the appearance changes with the dosage, casting thickness and background; verify the final tone in your own sample against both pale and dark backgrounds.

Transparent Purple is not the same as opaque purple, a fluorescent colour or a product with documented UV activity. The word Transparent describes the colour range but does not guarantee one unchanging degree of translucency in every plastisol and at every thickness. Suitable high-temperature silver, holographic or purple glitter can complement it, but first mix the shade on its own and add the glitter only at the end.

The 250 g pack makes more sense for regular production or repeatedly making the same recipe, and offers better value per gram. Pack size does not change the concentration or method of use.

Storage and packaging appearance

The manufacturer's exact storage range is not stated in the available documentation. Store the colour upright in its original, tightly closed bottle, in a dry place at a stable room temperature and away from direct sunlight, heat sources and frost. Transparent Purple makes sense when you want the colour only to tint the plastisol and retain visual depth, light transmission or the visibility of glitter in the casting. If you need a uniformly opaque area, choose the opaque range and compare the result in a sample of the same thickness.

Is this purple UV-active or fluorescent?

The available product name, label and current description do not confirm either property. The historical address of one retailer's listing contains the abbreviation UV, but its current name and text do not mention it; it therefore cannot be treated as a product specification.

Why does the paste in the bottle look almost black or burgundy?

It is a concentrated pigment paste viewed through a thick layer and against the dark mass of the contents. After a small addition to clear plastisol, it may look paler and more purple. A thin, cooled sample, not the colour of the full bottle, is what matters.

Can Purple be used only for the back, or for the whole body too?

Which background helps me assess the purple tone most accurately?

View the sample against white, grey and dark backgrounds, and also in transmitted light. A transparent shade looks different against each background, so checking it only in the mixing container or on a wooden table may be misleading.

How can I prevent the purple layer from obscuring the glitter?

Start with a lower colour dosage and test it at the same thickness as the finished part of the lure. Only add temperature-suitable glitter after confirming the base tone; a high pigment dosage or thick layer may optically suppress its sparkle.
