SaBoFlex Hot Olive is a concentrated pigment paste for colouring plastisol when making soft-plastic fishing lures. It offers a bright yellow-green to lime-olive shade for complete castings and contrasting sections of multicoloured lures. This is a colour concentrate intended to be mixed into plastisol – not ready-to-use plastisol, an airbrush paint or a surface coating.

The word Hot is used here as the commercial name of a light, vivid shade. On its own, it does not confirm fluorescence or UV activity. Hot Olive should therefore not be confused with Transparent Olive or Fluo Chartreuse: it is a separate colour in the Special range. Without a technical data sheet, we make no claim that it has any particular opacity, transparency or luminescence, or that it is non-migrating. Always verify the result on a cooled sample.

For this colour, SAF recommends adding it in small amounts to plastisol that is already hot and clear. It is difficult to judge the true intensity in a cold, milky-looking base. In clear working plastisol, you can monitor the change in shade as you go and build up the saturation in small steps. Prepare the plastisol according to its manufacturer's temperature and safety instructions and do not overheat it.

We do not specify a fixed number of drops per 100 g. Drop size varies with the dispensing nozzle, while the finished appearance depends on the base plastisol, dose, lure thickness, other additives and lighting. Start with a small amount: a mixture that is too light can be intensified, but concentrate that has already been added cannot be removed. For repeatable production, record the quantity of plastisol, the colour dose and the additives used.

Hot Olive can be used as the main colour of the whole body, as a light belly beneath a darker olive, brown or black back, for a flank stripe or at the end of the tail. Suitable heat-resistant gold or green glitter will complement the warm yellow-green palette, while holographic glitter will create a more neutral flash. First mix the base shade on its own and test every new combination in a small batch.

The 50 g option is practical for trying the shade for the first time, making smaller batches or equipping a workshop that uses a broader palette of colours. The 250 g bottle makes sense for regular production or repeated use of the same recipe. The concentration and recommended method of use remain the same for both pack sizes.

Storage and packaging appearance

Store the colour upright in its original tightly closed bottle, in a dry place at a stable room temperature and away from direct sunlight. Protect it from frost and significant temperature fluctuations. If the sealed bottle has become cold, allow it to return naturally to room temperature before homogenising the contents. Do not warm it on a radiator, hot plate or in a microwave oven.

Packaging notice: Especially after transport, a light oily film may appear around the thread or leave a mark on the label, even when the bottle is closed. If there is no visible loss of contents, this surface trace does not affect the use of the colour; we apologise for any marking of the label. After dosing, wipe the bottle neck and thread, retighten the cap firmly and store the bottle upright, ideally in a washable tray or sealed bag.

Is Hot Olive fluorescent or UV-active?

The term “Hot” describes the name of a bright shade, not a verified technical property. Without a separate TDS, we do not attribute fluorescence or UV activity to this colour. For such an effect, choose a product that states it directly in its name or technical data.

How does Hot Olive differ from Transparent Olive?

Hot Olive is a light yellow-green to lime-olive shade in the Special range. Transparent Olive is a separately named colour whose transparent character forms part of its name. The two products should therefore not be regarded as interchangeable.

How can I maintain a clean yellow-green tone?

Use clean equipment, start with a low dose and add the colour gradually. Residues of dark pigment in the container or on the stirrer can easily dull this light shade. Check the result on a cooled sample.

Which back colour will create a striking laminate with Hot Olive?

For a strong light-to-dark contrast, trial a black, dark-brown or deeper olive back. A light-green or pearlescent layer creates a softer transition. Always check that the layers bond correctly when using your chosen process.

Which glitter should I choose?

Gold emphasises the warmer side of the shade, green complements its olive component and holographic glitter adds a multicoloured flash without creating a fixed shift in the base colour. Use only glitter suitable for the working temperature of plastisol.

Is the colour in the bottle an exact representation of the finished lure?

No. The concentrated paste looks more saturated than when diluted in plastisol. The appearance changes with the dose, clarity of the base, casting thickness and lighting, so a thin, cooled drop or test casting is the decisive reference.
